Below is a description of the Functional Restorative Dentistry course that Temecula, CA dentist Dr. Ruby Ann Dollins has completed.
In the Core I course, the misconceptions and misunderstandings of how to manage a bite are discussed. The doctors literally discover in this program how to evaluate the muscles that support your bite and how to utilize a removable orthotic to stop the downward spiral of a bad bite. After this course, they will utilize the benefits of ultra low frequency TENS and can massage and relax the soft tissue and muscles that are creating the pain and determine a proper area for your lower jaw to function.
This is then supported with a removable orthotic that will allow the muscles to function peacefully. Once this is accomplished, the cycle is reversed and while you work with your dentist to optimize the function and fit of the orthotic, the pain disappears and comfort returns. While it may seem a little bit of a stretch at first, we have repeatedly seen people enjoy dramatic improvement in a number of seemingly unrelated symptoms. People very often have migraine-type pain or are even diagnosed with migraines and have them dramatically improved or eliminated completely. Some more interesting results are the elimination of numb finger tips and back pain as well as improving how patients sleep. The body is an incredible machine and amazing to watch how it works. These are discussed in the Core I course and after completing that course, you doctor is able to treat you as a physician of the mouth and make a diagnosis that extends beyond just the teeth. After taking Core I, your doctor can help to improve the quality of your life and eliminate the chronic and progressive and often debilitating issues that stem from a bad bite.
