Comprehensive Aesthetic Dental Reconstruction - LVI Advanced Dental Studies
Dr. Dollins and her staff at Bel Villaggio strive for excellence by attending continuing education courses at the Las Vegas Institute (LVI) for Advanced Dental Studies. Below is a description of the Comprehensive Aesthetic Reconstruction course that Temecula, CA dentist Dr. Ruby Ann Dollins has completed.
In this course, the dentist is learning how to make the positive changes more permanent for their patients. In dental school all that is taught is how to rebuild the patient’s mouths in the existing bite so that however the jaws line up when the treatment is started is maintained as individual teeth are restored. The problem with this approach is very frequently the bite the patient started in is wrong and commonly a part of why the teeth were in trouble in the first place. If the bite is not corrected in the process, the patient will end up dealing with the same destructive cycle that broke the teeth down and then end up dealing with sensitivity or bond failures or fractures. In many cases, more traditional approaches only have endodontic treatment as an option to deal with pain in the teeth. What is often found is that the reason for the pain is not so much an issue with the nerve of the tooth, but more an issue with how the teeth meet and function.
This program helps the dentist to learn the skills to manage the upper and lower teeth so that they are more optimally related to each other and can function in a way that they support comfort and function. This course is the first step in helping a dentist to be able to rebuild the bite to a new relationship – and one that supports a much greater chance for long term health and comfort. At this point, the doctors are trained to restore the upper arch to ideal parameters, and they can now stabilize and finalize the lower arch with a fixed orthotic, but they are not ready to restore and finish the lower arch until the principles in Core VI and Core VII are understood. It is only after Core VII that all the guiding protocol in predictable full mouth rehabilitation that doctors have been exposed to enough training to begin to treat these more complicated and comprehensive cases.
